push the button in the back of your skull
that turns on the death rays
that fan out in nets of glowing green
from your black eyes

suck me in to the void, the heavy space
behind the lens, opened wide,
capture my magnetic spinning soul
in your arresting gaze, locked on, draw in

and i’ll steady your head with my hand
to help you fight my fighting,
the thrashing i’ve resisted with since
i began to fear the falling into the void

but now power up those black eyes
and if i flee the buzzing and the pull
know that the beams will draw me out
feet first from my place of hiding

and though i’ll tremble and shiver
with terror you know
in another branch of the possible
i’ve already dived in headfirst,

into the black pool and i hear
the throbbing and in this other realm
which is also real, i’m already pushing down
deeper to find the source.
